Rep. Cory Atkins Urges Local Business Owners and Local Bank Presidents to Meet Regarding Lines of Credit
Representative Cory Atkins (D-Concord) is pleased to announce that local businesses in the Fourteenth Middlesex District that have had their lines of credit rescinded by large national banks such as Bank of America may be eligible for a line of credit from local banks.
“It is extremely troubling and unfortunate that many of the large national banks who were recipients of TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) are refusing to renew or are rescinding lines of credit to small business. Even businesses that are growing and have consistently made on-time payments on existing loans have been told they are too great of a credit risk,” said Atkins. “Fortunately we have local banks that are able and willing to help local business owners apply for loans.” Community banks such as Middlesex Savings Bank and Enterprise Bank and Trust did not suffer heavy losses during the financial meltdown and were not recipients of federal bailout money.
Atkins encourages local businesses owners whose line of credit has been rescinded to contact her office at 617-722-2692 or email Rep.CoryAtkins@hou.state.ma.us.

Acton, MA – As November is Home Health Care Month, Rep. Cory Atkins assisted Acton Public Health Nursing Service in raising awareness of assistances provided through visiting nurse associations and home health agencies by accompanying their staff on a scheduled visit to a patient home.
“This month is a celebration of the nurses, aides and caregivers that serve our elderly and infirm and I am pleased to be a part of saying ‘thank you’ to that group,” said Rep. Atkins.
“We are very proud of the work performed by Acton Public Health Nursing Service, along with our other member agencies all over Massachusetts that enable patients to remain in the most comfortable and familiar setting: their own homes,” said Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts Executive Director Patricia Kelleher.
Acton Pubic Health Nursing staff, including Heather Hurley, RN, C-COS, and Denise Whitney, CHHA, is helping to care for Patricia Christian, an Acton resident with Multiple Sclerosis. With the home care services, Christian is able to remain independent and out of an inpatient facility.
Rep. Atkins and Acton Public Health Nursing joined their counterparts across the state to raise awareness of home health services that help keep people healthy and independent. The 150 member agencies of the Home Care Alliance provide over 5 million home care visits each year to approximately 175,000 elderly, mentally ill and otherwise infirm Massachusetts residents.
