Transportation

Time spent driving is time wasted.

“Good transportation systems impact our quality of life, community and safety,” said Rep. Atkins.

For years, area residents have complained about the poor road quality on Route 2 and the lack of sound barriers on Route 3.

Area residents have had a strong advocate for their concerns – Rep. Atkins is a member of the House Transportation Committee.

“Families experience a measurable quality-of-life improvement when commutes are cut by even 15 minutes,” said Rep. Atkins.  “I am committed to using my position on the Transportation Committee to improve the traffic flow on Route 2 so that those living west of Crosby’s Corner can spend more time with their families every morning and every night.”

Chelmsford residents have long suffered noise pollution and toxic emissions along Route 3.  But this year, Atkins pushed funding for sound barriers along Route 3 in Chelmsford through the House and Senate and then through an override of Governor Romney’s veto.

“The people of Chelmsford deserve a peaceful environment and clean air.   It’s taken a lot of hard work, but we are on our way making sound barriers along Route 3 a reality.”

Rep. Atkins constantly holds Secretary of Transportation Daniel Grabauskas and Mass Highway Commissioner John Cogliano’s feet to the fire on Route 2 and Route 3 improvement issues.
